Piaggio Ape Motorcycles

Piaggio is a long-standing brand with an equally extensive history. Founded in 1884, the Italian brand now has a number of subsidiaries such as the Vespa under its belt. The brand has been prominent for its motorsports achievements and stylish motorbikes, particularly with its Vespa scooters that have been regarded as an iconic scooter. Piaggio made even more notoriety when it introduced the Apé in the 1950s, a light three-wheeled commercial vehicle, which was basically a scooter with two wheels added to the rear, with a flat-bed structure on top of the rear axle.

Autoitalia Philippines Enterprises (APE) Inc, a member of the Autohub Group of Companies, is the official distributor of Piaggio motorcycles in the country, including the aforementioned Apé.

The current crop of Apé models sold is the Auto DX, DAC, and Xtra LDX. These models are aimed to be the solution to transportation problems such as high fuel prices, traffic, and road inaccessibility. APE adds that these models focus on four segments: mobile business, transport, cargo, and government. They continue to update the Apé models to be a better fit for the target segments.
