Kymco AK550 Overview

Launched in 2017 here in the Philippines, Kymco claims that the AK550 is the pioneer of the new scooter segment “super touring” which intends to give riders both comfort and convenience while having a performance of sport bike. The Kymco AK550 is the brand’s first model to be installed with Noodoe technology which offer riders connectivity functions for convenience. Priced at P599,000, this full-size maxi scooter exudes with aggressive aura from front to rear, along with modern features.

For aesthetics, this aggressive-looking scooter brags a full LED lighting, a huge adjustable windshield, well-designed emblem, and multi-textures seating surfaces that stands out from its competitors. Sharp creases on the side also add style on this scooter, while the rear comes with a split grab rail. There’s also digital instrumentation with three different screens for tachometer on the left, Noodoe system at the middle and speedometer on the right.

Other notable features of the AK 550 are the keyless ignition, pass switch, fuel filler cap, USB connection, and an under-seat compartment that can fit in a full-face helmet. Two riding modes are also available: Power and Rain.

Great handling and rideability of this scooter are provided by Upside-down (USD) front forks while the rear has a unit swing suspension setup. As for the braking system, it is installed with front and rear disc brakes, along with a dual Bosch Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).

At the heart of Kymco AK550 is a capable 550cc three-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC gasoline engine that can churn out a maximum output of 53 hp and 55 Nm of torque. This powertrain is then connected to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).
