SYM Motorcycles

Sanyang Motor Co., Ltd., or widely known as SYM, entered the local market in 1999 to provide affordable and durable motorcycles for transportation and business. SYM Philippines’ motorcycles are exclusively imported, assembled, and distributed in the country by Mitsukoshi Motors Philippines Incorporated (MMPI).

Going back to its roots, the company began as a manufacturer of bicycle generator light with a few employees in a small office under the name Sanyang Electrics. With its perseverance, hard work, and technological advancements, it gained international acknowledgment in its automobile and motorcycle fields.

Sanyang had a technical agreement with Honda in 1961 but due to the competition of both brands in the motorcycle scene, the contract was terminated in 2002. After that, Sanyang then ties up with Hyundai Motors to manufacture the Korean brand’s automobiles and mini-trucks in Taiwan. In January 2010, Sanyang was renamed as Sanyang Motor Co. Ltd.

The SYM brand is no doubt one of the most popular bikes in the Philippines with its wide range of motorcycles to cater to the needs of Filipinos. Currently, the Taiwanese brand’s local lineup consists of Bonus 110, Bonus X, Joyride 200i Evo, RV1-2, and Maxsym 400i.
