Zontes is a Chinese motorcycle brand known for its small-displacement commuter bikes that are sold primarily in the Asian market. They’ve also released a few small-displacement adventure bikes in the past in the form of the T310 which looked like it was ready to go against BMW’s G 310 GS. Talks were going around of Zontes releasing an 800 cc triple in the near future. However, commuter oriented motorcycles were more of their strength rather than big bikes. Recently, they have teased the internet with two photos of their upcoming maxiscooter, the ZT300T-M.
The new ZT300T-M is a maxiscooter that is ready to be pitted against the Japanese giants within the 300 cc scooter segment such as the Honda Forza 300 or the Yamaha XMAX 300. Its styling is said to be highly influenced by Japanese manga and anime with its headlights resembling a Gundam fighter’s face. With its future mecha inspired looks the bike seems ready to transform into a fighter robot ready to battery a baby Kaiju with a press of a button.
The ZT300T-M is powered by a 309cc, single-cylinder engine built by its parent company Guangdong Tayo, with a power output of up to 33 hp capable of reaching top speeds of 145 km/h. Just to compare, the XMAX has a peak hp at 28 hp while the Honda Forza tops out at 25 hp. The scooter tips the scales at 162 kg and comes with standard ABS, a TFT dash, and full-LED lights. We can also expect ample storage space as a standard for maxiscooters. Zontes also teased the internet with a smaller 125 cc version of the ZT300T-M, without releasing its official name or specs which we’re guessing would be called the ZT125T-M.
It has a starting price of 30,000 Yuan or somewhere around P214,000. Though we haven’t had official word yet from Motostrada, the official distributor of Zontes motorcycles in the Philippines, if they’d be bringing in the new ZT300T-M maxiscooter to our shores, it would sure be really cool to see driving down our streets.
