We’d like to see this limited-edition Yamaha MT-15 in the Philippines
The new MT-15 Limited Edition features new vibrant and colorful livery.
Small-displacement bikes usually fly under the radar, but it seems that Yamaha has been on point with its 150 cc segment offerings. They are now putting more effort into incorporating new elements of design and technology to make them much more than just plain and boring commuter bikes. They have recently launched their new XSR155 in the Philippines and people are already starting to lineup for it. However, in the last Bangkok International Motor Show, Yamaha unveiled yet another capable 150 cc bike in the form of the MT-15 Limited Edition.
The new MT-15 Limited Edition is still the same capable bike powered by a 155 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine capable of power figures of 19 horsepower and 15 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox coupled with a slipper clutch. It is also the same engine being used on the new XSR155.
The MT-15 Limited Edition’s new color scheme comes mainly in teal blue coupled with black and yellow accents, plus neon yellow wheels which makes a good complement to its gold inverted forks. Its vibrant livery is fitting of the colorful automotive scene famous in Thailand and the rest of Southeast Asia. The MT-15 is, of course, the naked counterpart of the R15 sportbike bearing the same chassis making it a great performer on tight twisty roads, and light enough for squeezing into city traffic.
With Yamaha’s offerings in the small displacement bike segment like the MT-15 Limited Edition, it is not difficult to see why the motorcycle industry is still thriving with more people making a shift into two-wheel mobility. While there’s no official word yet from Yamaha Philippines as to if or when the new MT-15 Limited Edition would be coming to the Philippines, we’re confident that it would make a big hit once it reaches Philippine shores, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted with more updates once they do.
