Royal Enfield could be working on a new cruiser motorcycle based on its KX concept

The undisguised cruiser was spotted along the streets of India.

Royal Enfield KX Concept

Since Royal Enfield introduced its KX Concept back in 2018, fans of the Indian motorcycle marque have been hoping that a cruiser bike would eventually be added to the brand’s range of motorcycles. However, photos of reported Royal Enfield cruiser, possibly still in its testing stages, have been spotted along streets of India. A discerning eye would be quick to recognize the 650 cc parallel on the motorcycle, similar to that of Royal Enfield’s twins, the Interceptor, and Continental GT 650.

The test mule of the cruiser bike was first spotted around August, still in its early stages which appeared much like a variation of the concept. However, unlike the KX Concept that carried a V-twin engine and a bobber seat, the recently spotted cruiser featured a teardrop fuel tank, a low-set seat, and a pair of low-slung dual exhausts that will surely catch your attention. It also comes with an all too familiar, retro-inspired face with a pair of inverted forks for the front section.

The photograph has already made the rounds across several Indian publications feeding even more speculation about the development of the new cruiser. Still, Royal Enfield has never even publicly acknowledged or announced the existence of the new motorcycle. From the looks of it, it could certainly be the next model to come out of its 650 cc powerplant. If that holds true, we can expect the engine to churn out power figures of around 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

At this point, it remains unclear if this could be the production version of the KX Concept. Yet, it should come as no surprise if another modern-retro is added to the pipeline of Royal Enfield’s motorcycle range. After all, the Indian motorcycle manufacturer has been facing some challenges lately, with the launch of its highly-anticipated Meteor 350 being pushed back from its original schedule. The undisguised prototype is no doubt closer to its finished form which could also suggest an imminent launch in the near future, but at least not until the Meteor 350 is finally unveiled.
