QJ Motor is working on a new MV Agusta-powered sportbike
The SRK1000RR is slated to be one of the most performance-oriented models in QJ Motor’s lineup.
Chinese-made motorcycles are rapidly advancing in power and technology, largely due to strategic collaborations with European brands; an example being CFMoto's recent 800cc models that openly incorporate KTM technology. Another major player, QJ Motor, renowned as one of the world's largest Chinese motorcycle manufacturers, is poised for significant developments, evident from its partnership with MV Agusta, indicating promising prospects ahead.
However, it's worth noting that QJ Motor might have an exciting revelation in store, bound to thrill those who appreciate high-performance vehicles. As outlined in a recent article by RideApart, news has emerged about the forthcoming production of a 1,000cc superbike named the SRK1000RR, and notably, it's a collaborative effort with MV Agusta. The report indicates that the motorcycle is set to be unveiled by the conclusion of 2023 and commence production in the early months of 2024.
Certainly, QJ Motor's collaboration with MV Agusta has been an ongoing venture. It's acknowledged that the Chinese firm was engaged in a joint development effort for MV's Lucky Explorer, slated to come in two iterations – 5.5 and 9.5. Moreover, within the Qianjiang group, Benelli, another subsidiary, was speculated to be crafting a fresh four-cylinder sportbike, featuring an engine sourced from MV Agusta.
The anticipated SRK1000RR model evidently draws inspiration from MV Agusta's design, notably the Brutale 1000, evident in various elements including the rear single-sided swingarm, hinting at potential technological incorporations influenced by the Italian manufacturer. Moreover, the bike's construction reveals a trellis frame coupled with an aluminum subframe, discreetly visible beneath the fairings.
However, in terms of performance, it's essential to highlight that the forthcoming SRK1000RR is not anticipated to match the caliber of the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 or even Japanese liter-class motorcycles. Instead of the robust 998cc four-cylinder engine generating 205 horsepower, the SRK1000RR is slated to be equipped with the 921cc four-cylinder engine showcased in the 921 S concept, projecting a more modest output of 127 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 8,100 rpm.
