Moto Guzzi holds successful 2023 Moto Guzzi Open House
Close to 35,000 enthusiasts made their way to Mandello del Lario, Moto Guzzi’s hometown in Italy.
Moto Guzzi boasts an impressive history spanning more than a century, establishing itself as the oldest European motorcycle manufacturer still in operation since its inception in 1921. Despite its boutique status, the Italian brand has garnered a dedicated following over the years.
From September 7 to 10, 2023, Moto Guzzi hosted its Open House event in the charming town of Mandello del Lario. Nearly 35,000 passionate Moto Guzzi enthusiasts gathered in this Italian village to revel in all things Guzzi. Notably, fans from as far as the United States and Australia made the journey, eager to partake in the global Moto Guzzi family celebration.
The Mandello facility, Moto Guzzi's home, holds a rich history entwined with Italy's industrial growth and the rise of the eagle brand as a global icon. During the recent Open House event, attendees enjoyed a unique experience, witnessing the bike and engine assembly lines in action and exploring the Wind Tunnel, a place steeped in historical significance within the factory.
Built in the 1950s with a primary focus on aerodynamic research, this wind tunnel was the world's first of its kind, and it played a crucial role in the development of the legendary 8-cylinder 500 motorcycle, celebrated worldwide. Additionally, this wind tunnel contributed significantly to Moto Guzzi's remarkable track record of 14 world championships, comprising eight rider titles and six constructor championships.
Virgin Radio, the event partner, injected energy into the Moto Guzzi Village, transforming it into the lively epicenter of the four-day celebrations. DJ Ringo headlined the stage, joined by a lineup of guests who captivated the audience with thrilling tales of races, expeditions, and escapades. The village also served as the launchpad for an impressive total of more than 600 test rides, featuring a diverse range of models, including the timeless V7, the iconic V9, the versatile V85 TT, and the exciting newcomer, V100 Mandello.
At the heart of the village, the spotlight was on the current Moto Guzzi motorcycle lineup, with a special focus on the premiere of the V7 Stone Corsa during the Open House event. Additionally, the event embraced a noble cause – charity fundraising. On September 9th, the V7 Stone 75° Oro Olimpico, a unique edition commemorating Mandello Moto Guzzi's rowing team's triumph at the 1948 London Olympics, took center stage. Moto Guzzi generously donated this special version to Moto Guzzi Canottieri, and it's scheduled to be auctioned off. The proceeds from this auction will go towards supporting the club's efforts in promoting rowing activities for both young individuals and disabled adults.
