LTO’s drive-thru registration renewal system renders satisfying results
Just like fast food, the entire process takes less than an hour.
While other LTO offices under MECQ areas including Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal, are closed in the meantime, others remain in operation. Despite that, many motorists have reportedly lined up super early just for them to complete their vehicle registration renewal. Soon enough, this conflict shall be resolved and long waiting lines will be lessened or perhaps ceased all thanks to the new drive-thru registration renewal system. It was duly noted that there is a possibility to implement the new system in their offices with the help of LTO’s new IT system for the rest of the country.
During its pilot testing, the Land Transportation Office Central Visayas reported that they were able to process a hefty number of 2,412 vehicles from July 6 to August 11. This goes to show that the process embarks better efficiency, causing less hassle on both LTO employees and motorists who are seeking renewal.
The said service was said to be conceptualized in Davao City. Notably, it’s also the first of its kind in the Visayas region. The entire process takes less than an hour, and owners wouldn’t have to leave their vehicles.
This reliable and efficient service can be availed by bringing the following requirements, including a clear copy of their certificate of registration and official receipt, as well as the insurance certificate of cover, emission test result, and stencils of chassis and engine numbers.
This system is currently offered at LTO-7’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (MVIC), located in Subangdaku, Mandaue City. This respective office has renewed a total of 1,113 motor vehicles and 1,299 motorcycles. However, its overall efficiency can be improved if a fast and reliable internet is made available.

This is quite an innovative strategy from LTO. Gladly, they were able to utilize the use of technology during desperate times, such as this pandemic. With that, this new system achieves better convenience, efficiency, and reliability among motorists who seek registration renewal for their vehicles. No word yet on when this system will make its way to Metro Manila just yet, however.
