Italian manufacturer, Aprilia releases a smaller 125 cc version of the Tuono, in India
Aprilia’s Tuono 125 is a naked mini-RSV4 packed with the same Italian craftsmanship and engineering seen in its bigger siblings.
Aprilia has been known for producing high-performance big bikes such as the highly decorated RSV4 and the Tuono V4. Recently, they released a smaller version of the celebrated Tuono V4, the Aprilia Tuono 125 which is offered not only for younger riders in mind but also for enthusiasts of smaller engine capacities. Its twin headlamps, engine cowl, and swept-up tail section shows the same aggressive look as its bigger siblings. However, the smaller engine capacity would not stop Aprilia from incorporating the best they can find in terms of design, construction and components, features, technology and yes, it is still built in Italy.
The Aprilia Tuono 125 is a semi-naked sportbike powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder 124.22 cc DOHC engine capable of producing 14.5 hp and 11 Nm of peak torque. The engine is housed within an aluminum perimeter frame similar to the bigger Tuono V4. Its suspension system comes with upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable mono-shock for the rear. ABS comes standard with disc brakes up front and back. The bike has a wet weight of 136 kg which makes it an extremely nimble machine to take around the city. It has a seat height of 810 mm. Aprilia also gives you the option of upgrading the transmission with a quick shifter.
Its exhaust system is completely integrated with the lower part of the fairing which gives a cleaner looking tail section and at the same time improves the dynamic performance of the bike by giving it a lower center of gravity.
The compact and ultra-lightweight bike’s instrument cluster provides a true racing instrumentation function which includes an ABS and on-board diagnostics (OBD) indicator light, an analog tachometer with carbon graphics. Its multifunction digital display is integrated with handlebar controls to toggle between speedometer, trip counter, battery voltage, clock and stopwatch memory for 20 laps, cooling circuit temperature, and fuel reserve indicator. An AMP ECU which enables connectivity between your smartphone and the bike is also available as an optional accessory.

The Aprilia Tuono 125 is initially set to be available in India and meant to be compliant with their BS6 emission standards which are also at par with Euro-5 emission standards in Europe. It is meant to comply with the Euro A1 licensure requirements and it will be directly competing with the KTM Duke 125. The question is, do we think that the Aprilia Tuono 125 will be landing in Philippine shores? We believe that smaller displacement sportbikes have a very competitive market here and if they do arrive, Aprilia would surely be putting a premium for its Italian craftsmanship and engineering.
