Honda updates the Africa Twin for 2021
It takes a keen eye to spot the changes in its new livery
Honda’s 2021 Africa twin gets some new updates for 2021. Its legendary adventure touring bike now comes with new color options with Pearl Glare White Tricolor, previously exclusive to the Adventure Sports trim is now available throughout the whole range, including the base-trim Africa Twin. In addition, Grand Prix Red and Matt Ballistic Black Metallic are now also offered as color options.
Subtle changes were also made to its new livery with the stripes around the bodywork being slightly altered. With that, the “Africa Twin” letter coloring has also been changed from gold to black. However, the gold spoke wheels available to the Adventure Sports Variant remains and doesn’t carry over to the rest of the range.
The 2021 Honda Africa Twin now gets a Euro 5 compliant engine with a change in motor displacement to keep up with the homologation requirements and remain in the market. It is now powered by a 1,084 cc, parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine capable of churning up 100 hp at 7,500 RPM and 105 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 RPM. It is mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) as an option.
Tech and electronic rider aids include ABS, rear-lift control, cruise control, anti-wheelie control, DCT cornering detection, and cornering lights. All its electronic rider aids can be controlled and accessed through its 6.5 inch TFT touchscreen display that also comes compatible with Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity to your favorite handheld Apple devices.
The Africa Twin Adventure Sports variant gets a larger fuel tank, a wider sump guard, and a taller windscreen compared to the standard model. It also gets timeless tires that are compatible with its spoked wheels.
So far, Honda Philippines has made no official announcement yet as to the arrival and official launch in the country. Neither have they released its official price just yet. We predict that its arrival will coincide with the release of the rest of its 2021 lineup, including the newly updated CB650R. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled and ears open for any more updates.
