Honda bids farewell to the CB400 with Japan-only Final Edition release
The Honda CB400 Super Four and Bol d’Or have gained global popularity. Unfortunately, their time is coming to an end.
The Honda CB400 was a Japan-only model for many years, although it was highly popular and sold well throughout that time. The good old Super Four, as well as all of its various versions, were never offered in the Philippines. Despite this, gray market importers were able to get the CB400 to the local market. However, like with everything else in life, all good things must come to an end, and the CB400 is no exception.
The CB400's demise is due to Japan's implementation of Reiwa 2 emissions restrictions, which are roughly equivalent to Euro 5. This means that bikes that don't satisfy the requirement must either be modified or retired. Of course, Honda could have opted to redesign the CB400 to meet the new emissions rules. Nevertheless, Honda has decided to phase it out after this year for reasons only known to them. However, the CB400's reign is coming to a close on a high note, as Honda has released the Final Edition of the wildly popular motorcycle in Japan.
The liquid-cooled, dual overhead cam 399cc inline four-cylinder engine in the 2022 Honda CB400 Super Four and Super Bol d'Or produces 55 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and little under 40 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm. This high-revving screamer is connected to a six-speed transmission. The suspension consists of a front telescopic fork with adjustable preload and a rear aluminum swingarm. The front brakes have four piston calipers and dual discs, while the rear brakes have a single piston caliper and a single disc. ABS is also present on both ends.
A well integrated dash with two analog circular pods for the speedometer and tachometer is another feature. In between the two pods is a small LCD panel that displays information such as the gear you're in, the ambient temperature, the trip meter, and the fuel consumption meter. LED headlights and taillights are standard equipment. Candy Chromosphere Red, Atmosphere Blue Metallic, which you may be familiar with as the classic HRC colors,, and Darkness Black Metallic are the three color options for the 2022 Honda CB400 Super Four. If you prefer a half-cowl Honda CB400 Super Bol d'Or, it's also available in Candy Chromosphere Red, Atmosphere Blue Metallic, and Darkness Black Metallic.
