The History Channel helps set 4 new Guinness World Records in the Philippines

Despite some difficulties along the way, nothing can withstand true Filipino spirit embarking on world record attempts for the Guinness. HISTORY and its partners are proud to announce that it bagged 4 world records while awaiting 2 more after official evaluation.

With the help of Ropali Motorcycles, Center for Culinary Arts, OraCare, Shakey’s, and The Medical City, it had done a total of 6 official Guinness attempts during the World Record Week held last April 8 to 12, 2015. And here to witness it was Guinness adjudicator Pravin Patel.

The event aims to strengthen the Philippines’ presence in the world record map.

 

Largest Parade of Motorcycles with Sidecars

Among the attempts made include Ropali Motorcycles’ largest parade of motorcycles with sidecars (or locally known as tricycles) in Cauayan, Isabela. WIth 681 tricycles in attendance, this beats the previous record of 317 set in Beijing, China.

Largest Simultaneous Motorcycle Burnout

The same motorcycle company has also set a new record in Tagaytay City with the largest number of motorcycle burnouts totaling 300. It had beaten the previous record of 213 set in Maryville, Tennessee.

Most People Using Mouthwash

OraCare also bagged a new World Record, with 2,040 people gargling with mouthwash simultaneously beating Canada’s old record of 1,974.

Largest Reunion of People Born in the Same Hospital

At the same time, The Medical City was able to gather 1,220 people together - all whom were born in the same hospital. This feat allowed them to break the previous record of 958 by Hong Kong’s Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Largest Serving of Balut by Weight / Fastest Time to Eat a 12” Pizza

There are 2 more Guinness attempts awaiting official evaluation. One of which is the Center for Culinary Arts’ (CCA) largest serving of balut by weight with a new record at 117.5 kilograms. From our research, it looks like this is a new attempt so will most likely make it in the record books. Shakey’s, on the other hand, attempted to break the record for the fastest time to eat a 12-inch pizza - a record which previously stood at 41.31 seconds. But Filipinos Kelvin James Miranda and Rix Francisco were both able to do it in only 23 seconds.

As Filipinos continue to thirst with accomplishments that showcases unity and talent amongst its people, HISTORY is already looking forward to more record-breaking attempts on the coming second phase of Make History’s campaign planned for the latter half of the year.
