Top 5 intermediate naked bikes you can buy in 2023
If you’re looking to level up your riding experience with more power and tech, consider these naked bikes.
We've always seen naked bikes as the most flexible and all-around type of motorcycles. In our past articles, we've talked about how you can use naked bikes as a great starting point to create your own unique motorcycle. Actually, almost everyone who rides bikes at MotoDeal has a naked bike in their collection.
Naked bikes are not just a great entry point into larger motorcycles, they're also ideal for moving up, especially in terms of performance. Today, we'll explore some top-notch mid-level naked bikes, with engine sizes from about 800cc to 1,000cc. This will help us figure out which one suits your riding preferences and budget the most.
MV Agusta Brutale 800
The MV Agusta Brutale 800 has a powerful 798cc engine with 140 horsepower. This bike blurs the line between a street-focused ride, a work of art, and a superbike. It's priced from P1,100,000 to P1,200,000, making it the priciest on the list, and for good reasons.Besides its strong engine, the MV Agusta Brutale 800 comes with advanced electronics. Its smart ECU manages everything and has a six-axis IMU to handle cornering ABS, traction control that adjusts to how you lean, various riding modes (including a customizable one to save your preferences), and suspension you can tweak. As the name suggests, the MV Agusta Brutale is a fierce naked bike, not for the faint-hearted.
Triumph Street Triple RS
Triumph has always been linked with the three-cylinder engine. In fact, two other bikes here took ideas from Triumph's three-cylinder engine. Now, let's talk about the Street Triple RS. Among these bikes, the Striple is the most focused on racing. It's actually powered by a Moto2 engine, a 765cc inline three-cylinder. In the RS version, it gives out a strong 128 horsepower, which is one of the highest in the sub-1,000cc segment. When it comes to features, Triumph didn't hold back. There are various riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, and suspension you can adjust, just to name a few. The bike also boasts a complete aluminum frame, so it weighs just below 400 pounds with a full tank, ready to go. It's a bit costly at P845,000, but considering how much performance it offers, the price makes sense.
Yamaha XSR900
The Yamaha XSR900 has improved a lot, and now it's as much about technology and performance as it is about tradition and classic looks. At P729,000, it's one of the more affordable bikes here, yet it comes with all the fancy tech you'd want. This new version has the same kind of chip as the YZF-R1, so it boasts modern features like traction control that adjusts to how you lean, ABS, and even a system to lift the front end. Yamaha also added a quickshifter that works both up and down, and it's included as a standard feature.
Performance-wise, it runs on an evolved version of Yamaha's reliable CP3 engine. This liquid-cooled, fuel-injected inline-three-cylinder engine now has a bigger size of 890cc, and it's quite powerful, giving 117 horsepower. Clearly, the XSR900 is one of the finest middleweight naked bikes from Japan, which is why it's the first one on this list.
Ducati Monster 937
Now, let's talk about another famous name in the world of naked bikes, the Ducati Monster. In its 937 version, the Monster is sharper, lighter, and better balanced than ever. It gets its power from a 937cc, Testastretta L-twin engine with Desmodromic valve operation, liquid cooling, and four valves for each cylinder head. With 111 horsepower, it's definitely a strong performer, and it comes with even more electronic features to support its performance.
Ducati has included a complete set of electronic tools to help the rider, including ABS, traction control, and various riding modes. These are all controlled by a top-level six-axis IMU, which is derived from superbikes. But all these tech enhancements and performance come at a cost. The new Ducati Monster 937 starts at a quite high P1,045,000 – that's even more expensive than many 1,000cc naked bikes from Japanese makers.
Suzuki GSX-S1000
Among all the big naked sportbikes, you might say the Suzuki GSX-S1000 is the most balanced. It looks really cool and costs not too much, plus it has fancy tech that's just as good as pricier 1,000cc naked bikes. It runs on a trusted engine: a 999.8cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, inline-four cylinder that gives 150 horsepower and 125 Newton-meters of torque.
Besides its impressive performance, the bike also comes with smart electronics to make your ride smoother. It has special ABS for better cornering and traction control to help you stay in control when pushing the limits. You can choose different ride modes using a full-color TFT display. The suspension from Showa can be adjusted according to your liking. On top of all that, getting all of these features for just P755,000 is definitely a great deal.
