Top 5 easy-install accessories for the Yamaha Tenere 700
If you’re an owner of this capable adventure bike, then check out these five accessories handpicked by Jinno himself.
If you’ve been following us, as well as our very own Jinno Rufino for sometime now, chances are you’re aware that the Yamaha Tenere 700 is one of his favorite bikes. In fact, he’s had one for quite some time now, and every time I see him, he can’t seem to stop raving about how awesome of a bike it is. Indeed, I concur, as I’m also an owner of the Tenere 700’s naked sibling, the MT-07, and I’m a big fan of the engine’s character and performance.
While I’ll probably dive into a similar list for the MT-07, the topic of today’s list is the Tenere 700. Of course, being the adventure bike that it is, chances are it’s destined to go well beyond the beaten path. As such, there are quite a few useful accessories you could install on this bike to make it better equipped to handle the rigors of the rugged landscape. Jinno himself hand-picked these accessories, so I thought it would be best to share them with you.
Instrument cluster protector
Whether you're cruising on smooth pavement or tackling rugged off-road trails, your motorcycle's instrument cluster is a crucial component that deserves protection. Much like your trusty smartphone, these screens can be surprisingly sensitive to the perils of the road, from pesky stone chips to airborne debris. Fortunately, a simple solution presents itself – consider adding a screen protector. This small investment can go a long way in preserving the pristine appearance of your bike's instrument panel, shielding it from unsightly scuffs and damage, and ensuring you're always well-informed on your rides.
Engine guard
Riding off-road brings excitement, but it also increases the likelihood of an occasional bike drop. When that happens, it's often the engine's crankcase and clutch cover that bear the brunt of the impact due to their exposed position. Even a gentle drop can lead to unsightly scratches on these vital engine components. Thankfully, there's a practical solution – installing an engine protector. These not only serve as armor for your engine but also add a touch of cool aesthetics to your ride. The best part? They're designed to be user-friendly, utilizing existing mounting points and providing their own specialized hardware, making installation a breeze for riders of all levels. Ride on with confidence, knowing your engine is safeguarded and your bike looks the part.
Lowering links
For those riders who are height-challenged (like Jinno), a stock Tenere 700 might pose some challenges. Fortunately, there's a practical solution in the form of lowering links. These unassuming components can significantly enhance your bike's accessibility, especially in situations like navigating heavy traffic or tackling off-road terrain. Lowering links seamlessly integrate into your ride, utilizing the bike's stock mounting points while replacing the original suspension linkages.
However, it's essential to keep one crucial detail in mind: altering your bike's height through lowering links affects its suspension geometry. To ensure optimal performance and safety, it's wise to have your suspension professionally adjusted after making this modification. With the right adjustments, you can enjoy a more comfortable and manageable ride on your lowered Tenere 700, regardless of your height.
Rear grab handle
The addition of a rear grab handle to your motorcycle serves a multitude of practical purposes. On a versatile bike like the Tenere 700, it enhances functionality in various ways. Firstly, it simplifies the task of carrying a passenger, ensuring a more comfortable and secure ride for both rider and pillion. Moreover, the rear grab handle doubles as a convenient tie-down point for securing luggage and accessories. Whether you're embarking on a long adventure or a quick day trip, having this anchor point makes packing and securing your gear a breeze.
In the unfortunate event of a drop, these handles prove invaluable. They provide a sturdy grip, making it easier to lift your motorcycle back onto its wheels. Additionally, in the confined space of your garage, maneuvering your bike becomes a walk in the park with the assistance of these handles. So, installing a rear grab handle not only enhances your bike's versatility but also adds practicality to your riding experience, whether you're solo or with a passenger.
Headlight protector
Last but not least is a headlight protector, and it brings both style and function to the table. Not only does it impart a rugged and adventurous look to your bike, but it also serves a crucial purpose, particularly during off-road escapades.
When you're navigating rough terrain, the risk of debris like rocks and twigs impacting your headlight lens is ever-present. These unexpected encounters can result in unsightly scratches or even cracks. Fortunately, a headlight protector acts as a dependable shield, keeping your headlight lens safe from such debris-related mishaps.
Adding to its appeal is the ease of installation. Like the other accessories mentioned, headlight protectors are designed with user-friendliness in mind. They typically come complete with all the necessary hardware, making the installation process a straightforward task. So, not only does it enhance your bike's aesthetics, but it also ensures the longevity of your headlight, allowing you to ride with confidence even in challenging off-road conditions.
