These were the most popular motorcycles on MotoDeal.com.ph in December 2022
Based on inquiries alone, these bikes took the cake when 2022 drew to a close.
Now that 2022 has drawn to a close, we can look back at the year that was, while at the same time, looking forward to the year that is. It goes without saying that 2022 was an exciting year for motorcycles, with more and more people embracing the two-wheeled lifestyle. In 2022, we saw the entry of new and exciting motorcycles in both the global and local markets, as well as updates of popular models continuing raking in sales for top manufacturers.
Here at MotoDeal.com.ph, we’re more than happy to help you on your two-wheeled journeys, and we’re glad to see more and more of you making use of our comprehensive motorcycle guide when it comes to deciding on, and eventually purchasing, your next motorcycle. Having said all that, let’s talk about some insights we found based on inquiries on our website, and discuss the most popular models, brands, and configurations, specifically for the month of December, 2022.
The scooter is still the king of the road
Out of all the motorcycle types available, it’s a known fact that scooters are the most popular here in the Philippines. Given our heavily congested roads, dense traffic, and tight roadways, scooters just make sense as they’re easy to ride, park, and maintain. On top of that, they’re extremely practical, offering you a lot of storage space under the seat, while at the same time offering a comfortable ride.
Based on inquiries on our website, six out of the top ten most popular models were in fact scooters. On the top of our list is the Honda ADV 160, which was recently updated for the 2023 model year. Needless to say, we expect the ADV 160 to sell like hotcakes this year, following in the successful footsteps of its predecessor, the ADV 150. Other notable models include the Yamaha Mio Fazzio in second place, as well as the Yamaha Aerox and NMAX, which both occupy the top ten list.
There's a growing interest for entry-level big bikes
While scooters remain the most popular category in the motorcycle segment, there has been a noticeable increase in interest for entry-level big bikes. In previous years, you wouldn’t even find any big bikes in the top ten most-inquired list. In December of 2022, however, big bikes made the top ten list—the Honda Rebel 500 and CFMOTO 450 SR. The CFMOTO 400 NK also nearly made the cut, at 11th place.
This indicates a growing big bike market, particularly in the entry level space with bikes like the 400 NK and Rebel 500 being particularly beginner-friendly. As for the CFMOTO 450 SR, this brand-new sportbike has a lot going for it, featuring an all-new parallel-twin engine, and class-leading technology at an affordable price point.
Japanese manufacturers continue to dominate
Unsurprisingly, in a market driven by value and performance such as ours, Japanese manufacturers continue to dominate the market. Out of the top 20 most-inquired models for December 2022, 15 of them came from Japanese manufacturers—or 16, if you include the Bajaj Dominar 400, which is distributed by Kawasaki here in the Philippine market. This means that the stereotype of reliability and dependability brought by Japanese manufacturers continues to translate to market success, at least here in the local market.
Interestingly as well, the interest in Chinese motorcycles seems to be seeing growth, too. Models like the previously mentioned CFMOTO 450SR and 400 NK, as well bikes from Keeway and Motorstar, have also grown in popularity. Now, given all the exciting new models coming from Chinese manufacturers scheduled for the 2023 model year, we wouldn’t at all be surprised if more Chinese bikes make their way to our most-inquired list.
