2021 was undoubtedly an exciting year in the world of motorcycles. Both big bikes and small bikes alike had their fair share of new model debuts and amazing promos. Here at MotoDeal.com.ph, we always try our best to bring you the latest news, reviews, as well as tips and advice from our team of passionate and experienced motorcycle enthusiasts. We hope that through our content we’ve helped guide you towards the right decision when it comes to buying a new bike—be it your first commuter scooter, or a shiny new big bike to add to your collection.
The scooter is still the king
Out of the top 20 most inquired motorcycles on our website, a vast majority of them were, you guessed it, scooters. Sitting at the very top spot of our leaderboard is none other than the Yamaha NMAX. A total of eight out of 20 occupants in our top 20 list were scooters, and for good reason. A scooter is undoubtedly the best form of two-wheeled transport in our country’s densely populated and traffic laden cities. That said, following the NMAX is another Yamaha stablemate, the Mio Aerox 155, which is basically the NMAX’s sporty-looking twin.
The Honda ADV150 follows shortly after the Aerox, further confirming that Honda’s entry-level adventure-scooter is a worthy alternative to the two best-selling Yamaha scooters. Moving down the list, we find the Click 125i, loved for its affordable price-tag and nearly unbeatable fuel economy. Another brand that has made it to our most-inquired list is Vespa, with the most popular being the S125 and Primavera—two of the best value-for-money offerings in the company’s repertoire.
Yamaha and Honda lead the charge
Out of the top 20 most inquired motorcycles in 2021, more than half of them were either a Yamaha or a Honda. More specifically, there were 6 Yamahas and 5 Honda bikes that made it to our top 20. For Yamaha, the NMAX and Aerox took the top 2 spots, solidifying their rank as the top 2 most popular scooters in the market. The sporty Sniper underbone and the three-wheeled Tricity scooter occupy 11th and 12th respectively. Meanwhile, the neo-retro roadster, the XSR155 is in number 14 and the sporty YZF-R15 sits at 16th place.
As for Big Red, the Honda ADV150 is the two-wheeler most people are interested in. It’s followed by the Click 125i, which is a favorite among delivery riders and commuters due to its affordability and economy. Interestingly, the Honda Rebel 500 takes 6th place, and is the second most popular big bike per our insights. The Honda Click 150i takes 18th place, and is also popular as a more premium alternative to the Click 125i. Last but not least, Honda’s performance-oriented Neo Sports Cafe bike, the CB650R sits at our 20th spot.
There's a growing interest for big bikes
There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in an uptick in the sale of big bikes. A good number of people who had plans of traveling abroad decided to pull the trigger on a shiny new big bike instead, as borders to numerous countries remain closed or with tight restrictions. As such, the most inquired big bike on our website for 2021 continues to be the CFMOTO 400NK. This isn’t really surprising, as CFMOTO always impresses with its models. Ever since entering the market in 2017, the 400NK has made big bike performance accessible to a wider range of riders.
Following the 400NK, the Honda Rebel 500 also garnered a lot of interest, especially because it’s one of the easiest, most beginner-friendly big bikes out there. After the Rebel 500, the Kawasaki Bajaj Dominar 400 also received a lot of attention, especially given its affordable price tag and punchy performance. Sporty riders were also plentiful, as the Kawasaki Ninja 400 sits in 15th place. It’s the most inquired 400cc and up sportbike, according to our metrics. Last but not least, the Honda CB650R sits in 20th place, as it was the most affordable four-cylinder-powered highway legal machine in the market.
